Shinji KintaroElemental Designate:
Guardian of FireAge:
16 yrs.Height:
5"12Hair:
BrownEyes:
Blue(left) and red(right).Clothes:
Wears light studded leather chest plate that extends into shoulder guards on either side. He wears a white sleeveless shirt and loose dark-blue pants which go slightly over the top of his leather boots. His weapons of choice are two gauntlets on his hands. The gauntlets are composed of plated metal on a leather glove. Wears a long white bandana, most of the time.Abilities:
Mostly relies on his fighting skills, but at times he can really use his head. His solitary travelling has given him lots of experience when it comes to roughing it, and sometimes feels more at home in the wild than in a house, not to mention that he's developed a cast-iron stomach. His greatest ability is most likely his steel determination, something that has helped him come out on top in more than a few battles. Still, he has a lot to learn.Update:
Recently, Shinji has begun displaying the ability to utilize dark fire, although only with his right hand. His Fighting abilities have improved, but they have begun leaning towards a faster, more ruthless style than before. Shinji hasn't seemed to notice the switch, but it's there all the same. He has learned the ability to move faster than the human eye can see from fighting with Sullam, and is just learning to master it.Also, a strange link has arisen because of his Guardianship to Teri. The nature of it, and it's exact limits, are yet to be seen. History:
He was brought to the Monastery of the Silver Fang at a very young age, so young that it's the only life he remembers. The monks have become his second family and have taught him their form of hand-to-hand combat. He left the monastery to go hone his skills in the untamed wild. His fighting skills have grown from countless hours of training, but Shinji is hardly a master, since he left before his training could be completed. Still, he would never turn down a fight, even if he had no possible hope of winning. Prideful but not arrogant (unless you happen to challenge him and lose), he would rather let his fists do the talking. He can be very impatient when it comes to formal training, probably one of the reasons he left the Monastery in the first place. He would jump at any opportunity to increase his skill, so long as it doesn't require him to sit and sift through scrolls all day.One night, as a boy, he had snuck away from the Monastery, "adventuring" on his own. During his exploring, he happened across a horrible sight. A group of soldiers being slaughtered by the Monastery's primary Enforcer, Crusader. Shinji was terrified, and blanked out. He was brought back to the Monastery by Crusader, covered in blood. It still remains a scar in his mind, and he harbors nigh-superstitious fear of the armored warrior. He learned his fighting skills from a passing monk named Tohou Fuhai (cake to anyone who picks out the reference. -Ian). However, Fuhai vanished from the Monastery before Shinji could finish his training. Personality:
His travels have made him feel a little awkward around other people, although he can be really friendly once he gets to know someone. He wouldn't mind joining up with anyone, although more for the experience than the company. He also has a sarcastic streak, and would open up with a flurry of taunts against both friend and foe alike, something that has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion.A darker aspect of Shinji has surfaced during his travels. About the same time he gained access to his ability to use fire, a second, mysterious persona has emerged in his Psyche. Known only as the Other, the being represents the evil that dwells within Shinji, and perhaps something more. The two battle at every occasion, but Shinji is no match for the Other. However, Shinji has discovered that the Other cannot escape whatever prison he is in unless Shinji himself lets him out first. It's scant comfort though, and for the meantime, it looks as though the Other is there to stay. Reason for Questing:
To improve his abilities, or that's what he tells himself. Deep down though, he wants to find his family. He keeps it bottled up though, he's convinced himself that if they wanted him back, they would have come to get him.Shinji has become the Guardian of Fire, but he ran away from the responsibility after he lost control to the Other, and ended up harming his friend, Teri. He couldn't forgive himself, and so fled, justifying it with the belief that she'd be safer if he wasn't around. His short return to the Monastery, and the meeting with Sullam, convinced him otherwise. Now he hopes to make amends for his mistake, or at least, to put things right between him and Teri. Shinji, though, still remains greatly worried about the Other, himself, and the nature of their link. He thinks that maybe, if he can find Fuhai, he can find some answers. Nanatsukaze, a city to the North, seems to be the best place to start looking. |
